  • Demita

    Demita is a 21 year old from Awaliwal village, in the Kalaki district.  She is the 6th of 7 children and the first to complete a senior level 4 education. The support from her mother has play a great role which she commits to continue to give her daughter until she reaches her goal. “One of the most gratifying aspects of being a nurse is that the profession provides me with the opportunity to positively impact live…Providing care, support and education to patients and their families just helping them navigate their health challenges.” “I believe my dream will come true.”

    Demita is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the Ngora Hospital School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2026.

  • Everline

    Everline is a 20 year old from Angudawele  A village, in the Kaberamaido district. She is a partial orphan who has grown under the care of her elder brother, the youngest of 6 children. Her mother passed away and her father no longer cares for them.  She is very interested in caring as a midwife because she has always admired midwifes. She wants to help women during child birth and reduce cases of home deliveries in her communities.

    Everline Is pursuing a Certificate in Midwifery degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2026.

  • Leah

    Leah is a 26 year old from Oyama village, in the Kaberamaido district. Leah received financial support from the Education for Hope foundation  (2017- 2020) to complete her Certificate in Midwifery from Mengo Hospital Training School.  Leah is currently working at Bukesa Medical Center in Kampala.  “My life has changed from day one to date. I can support myself. I wish to continue my education to build new skills, upgrade for good academic papers to increase my salary. After the diploma program I will utilize my advanced skills to work at a larger facility and become a Nursing Officer.”

    Leah Is pursuing a Diploma in Midwifery  at the Mengo School  of Nursing and Midwifery-Kampala completing a 1½ year diploma program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Priscilla

    Priscilla is an 18 year old from Ararak A village, in the Kaberamaido district. Priscilla has held on to her dream of being a nurse despite the economic hardships and struggles. Priscilla expressed her need to be a nurse right from senior level one, her parents are supportive of her dream.

    Priscilla Is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2026.

  • John Moris

    John Moris is a 20 year old from Asal village, in the Kaberamaido district. Moris is the 4th of 6 children living with his widowed mother and two of his siblings. He has managed to continue his education despite the passing on of his father when he was in primary level six. During his holidays Moris makes bricks so that he can contribute to his school fees and also buy some school requirements.

    John Moris Is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the Uganda Christian Institute School of Nursing and Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in December 2026.

  • Eugine

    Eugine  is a 22 year old from Asal village, in the Kalaki district. Eugine comes from a fishing community and is 1st of 8 children. He has a dream of changing the life style of those in his community especially in term of health. Eugine wishes to be a role model to other young boys and girls in his community. “The reason to be a nurse is to help patients in the hospital because nurses are few and patients are many, this is leading to a high death rate…I will be able to treat people in my community and also sensitize them about health because prevention is better than cure.”

    Eugine Is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in December 2026.

  • Mark Nathan

    Mark Nathan is a 23 year old from Agule village, in the Kalaki district.  Nathan is the 3rd child of 5. Orphaned early in life after his father’s death, leaving home at the age of  9 years to become a herdsman. Nathan was fortunate to receive educational support to achieve where he is today.  The Education for Hope foundation will begin financially supporting Nathan so he may achieve his dream of becoming a nurse.  “I am motivated to nursing because of the high rate of death in the hospital because of inadequate number of health workers.”

    Nathan Is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the St. Mary's Institute of Health Sciences completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in December 2026.

  • Peninah

    Peninah is a 27 year old from Akarwok village, in the Kaberamaido district.  She completed her Certificate in Midwifery from St. Joseph's Kamuli school of Nursing and Midwifery (KAMULI). Peninah  is currently volunteering at the Lwala hospital.  “I wish to upgrade my education so I may be considered for a better salary.  I dream of giving back to the community through charity for orphans which can only be done when I upgrade to a better level.”

    Peninah is pursuing a Diploma in Midwifery at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 1½ year diploma program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Joel

    Joel is a 18 year old from Omor village, in the Kalaki district.  He is an orphan with no biological siblings.  With the support from his Aunt and Uncle he has not stopped dreaming big.  Joel plans to enter nursing as a base to continue into the goal of becoming a doctor someday.  “Nursing is an opportunity for me to help people when vulnerable, I enjoy connecting with people personally.”

    Joel Is pursuing a Certificate in Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in December 2026.

  • Emmanuel 

    Emmanuel  is a 31 year old from Agule village, in the Kaberamaido district. Emmanuel  received financial support from the Education for Hope foundation (2018- 20201) to complete his Certificate in Nursing from the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira. Emmanuel is currently working at Pakegido Health center.  "Emmanuel is motivated to advance his studies to care for more complex cases and work in a larger and busier health facilities. Emmanuel would like to become a neurosurgeon, utilizing nursing as his base..

    Emmanuel is pursuing a Diploma in Nursing at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 1½ year diploma program. He will graduate in December 2025
