  • Aaron

    Aaron is a 20 year old from Akaruwok village in Kalaki District. He is the 1st born of 5 children. His parents are peasant farmers. Aaron’s grandfather, a primary school teacher has contributed to his education until the cost became to great. Aaron is so determined to make the future of himself, family and community brighter as proven by his academic excellence. “Right in my home where I am born and grew up from, we have no health workers and the health people is just very poor and of its lowest. I really choose this course not because of any one but because I believe in myself and I believe that I can work and promote health status of people in my community, Uganda and the world at large.”- Aaron

    Aaron is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Kaabong College of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2024.

  • Judith

    Judith is a 25 year old from Kalaki Central in Kalaki District. She is the 2nd born of 5 children. His parents are peasant farmers. Judith has completed 4 of the 5 semesters to receive a certificate in nursing, unfortunately because of family health issues Judith was unable to return to school due to financial difficulties. “I love the nursing profession so as to save lives and would love to as well pursue a diploma in nursing to gain more knowledge for a much more efficient skillful professional development.” – Judith

    Judith is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Uganda Christian Institute School of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2023.

  • Marion

    Marion is a 20 year old from Ojele village in Kalaki District. She is the 1st born of 4 children. His parents are peasant farmers. Marion’s mother is a primary teacher and values the achievements of an education. Unfortunately, as a single parent the cost of Marion’s education became too difficult. “ I chose to be a nurse because I wish to work with the community to save lives of the sick in terms of treating, giving the community health education above all I like dealing with the sick and I like seeing healthy people in society.”- Marion

    Marion is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Gulu School of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program . She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Brian

    Brian is a 22 year old from Oculoi village in Kaberamaido District. He is the 2nd born of 4 children. His parents are peasant farmers. Brian’s mother volunteers as a Mentor (Peer) mother with TASO (The Aids Support Organization). “I have always wanted to do nursing and had always been my prior dream course since my education career due to the fact that there are few health workers within my place of residency, and poor hygiene within the community I live.”- Brian

    Brian is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Dokolo school of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2024

  • Caroline

    Caroline is a 21 year old from Anyamcoto village in Kalaki District. She is the 8th born of 9 children. Caroline’s parents are both peasant farmers and proud of Caroline’s efforts towards her academic excellence as she has become a role model to the youth in the community. She has benefitted from the child fund aid becoming the first in her family to complete A-Level (Senior 5&6). “I am much interested in pursuing a diploma in Nursing, this is because there is a shortage of manpower in the medical field in this nation. I proved this one time when I visited a nearby hospital where by two nurses were attending to very many patients and the patients could not get medication on time.” -Caroline.

    Caroline is pursuing a Nursing Diploma (Direct) at the Jerusalem School of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 3 year degree program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Doreen

    Doreen is a 20 year old from Ajesai village in Kalaki District. She is the 5th born of 5 children. Doreen’s parents are both peasant farmers, relying on agriculture to pay school fees. “I had a desire of becoming a nurse since I was in primary level because I wanted to save peoples lives. I am reading hard and doing my practice with all of my heart because my hope is to be a good nurse that loves my patients, give them the good nursing care. “- Doreen

    Doreen is pursuing a Nursing degree at the St. Joseph School of Nursing & Midwifery (Kamuli) completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2023.

  • Faith

    Faith is a 18 year old from Awijobi village in Kaberamaido District. She is the 2nd born of 6 children. Her father is a retired serviceman, and periodically completes work as a security guard. Her mother is a housewife and a seasonally makes cassava chips during peak harvest to supplement their family’s income.

    Faith is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Rakai Community School of Nursing for a completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Fiona

    Fiona is a 18 year old from Cuma village in Kaberamaido District. She is the 1st born of 7 children. “I had interest since my childhood to do a course in midwifery because at times I see children die in a hospital due to the scarcity of midwives and sometimes I see mothers produce at home without help making the children and both the mothers to get some problems during delivery”- Fiona

    Fiona is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2025.

  • Gabriel

    Gabriel is a 24 year old from Awimon Cell village in Kaberamaido District. He is the last born of 8 children. Gabriel’s father passed away when he was in primary 4, leaving him behind with his peasant mother struggling to fend for him and his siblings “After primary, I developed the admiration of doctors whenever I visited the health centers with my mother. The admiration grew bigger into a dream to someday become a medical worker and particularly in the nursing profession and be part of the incredible lifesaving team.” - Gabriel.

    Gabriel is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2025.

  • Harriet

    Harriet is a 30 year old from Agule village in Kalaki District. He is the 2nd born of 5 children. She completed her nursing certificate education in May 2014. Harriet worked in two different private clinics unfortunately receiving very little pay. After this, with help from her parents, she opted to start her own private clinic which ran for one year until her father passed on. Fortunately Harriet received the opportunity to work in a private health facility in Lira Town, allowing her to save money to apply for an extension Diploma program in nursing.

    Harriet is pursuing a Bachelors in Nursing degree at the Soroti School of Comprehensive Nursing, completing a 1 ½ year extension Diploma program. She will graduate in June 2023.

  • Kenneth

    Kenneth is a 19 year old from Obur village in Kalaki, District. He is the 1st born of 4 children. Kenneth’s father is a primary school teacher who has been able to provide financial assistance for Kenneth’s education until the fees have increased related to the higher level of education. “I developed interest and chose this course because I want to help to provide good quality health services to people, prevent and control the spread of disease, save life and as well help the needy irrespective of who and where they come from.”- Kenneth

    Kenneth is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Dokolo School of Nursing & Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2024

  • Sylvia

    Sylvia is a 20 year old from Kalobo village in Kalaki, District. She is the 1st born of 5 children. Sylvia’s lives with her paternal grandmother, an agricultural farmer in a household of 12 children, 9 of which her grandmother provides financial support towards education. “ I chose nursing course to coordinate with others and work as an advocate for patients. Nursing is a profession where you never really finish learning, providing care that can not always cure but that always matters.”- Sylvia

    Sylvia is pursuing a Nursing degree at the St. Joseph School of Nursing & Midwifery (Kamuli) completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024

  • Jacob

    Jacob is a 20 year old from Ajelep village in Kalaki, District. He is the 1st born of 7 children. Jacob, his mother and family live with his grandfather, a farmer. “Upon getting education support from my uncle, who happens to be a medical worker, I was motivated to work hard and someday become a health worker just like him so that I can help people in dare need like my mother.” -Jacob.

    Jacob is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2025.

  • Irene

    Irene is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Moris

    Moris is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Uganda Christian Institute School of Nursing and Midwifery (LIRA), completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in December 2025.

  • Rachel

    Rachel is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Nancy

    Nancy is pursuing a Nursing degree at the St. Joseph School of Nursing & Midwifery (Kamuli) completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2025

  • Rebecca

    Rebecca is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery, completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2025.

  • Erick

    Erick is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Uganda Christian Institute School of Nursing and Midwifery (LIRA), completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. He will graduate in June 2024..

  • Gloria

    Nancy is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the St. Joseph School of Nursing & Midwifery (Kamuli) completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in December 2025

  • Winny

    Winny is pursuing a Bachelors in Nursing degree at the St. Francis School of Health Sciences (MUKONO), completing a 1 ½ year extension Diploma program. She will graduate in December 2024
