  • Alice

    Alice is a 21 year old from Atek village in Kaberamaido. She is the 1st born out of 7 children and lives together with their mother. Her father passed away in 2018, he was a police officer. After the death of her father, Alice tried to raise funds for her education by selling bread. “Alice has always made me feel stronger more so after the death of my husband (Alice’s father). She is a focused girl and my only prayer for her is that GOD guides her path through education.” - Alice’s Mother

    Alice is pursuing a Nursing degree at the St. Joseph's Kamuli school of nursing and midwifery (KAMULI) completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024

  • Damali

    Damali is a 18 year old from Ajidak village, Kaberamaido District. Damali is the 3rd born among 8 children, she is fulfilling her dream of becoming a nurse. Her father is a primary school teacher. “I want to be a nurse so that I can be in the position to help people who are sick and weak”- Damali

    Damali is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Florence Nightingale Comprehensive School of Nursing and Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024

  • Becky

    Becky is a 21 year old from Awimon village in Kaberamaido Districts. Becky is the last born out of 6. All of Becky’s siblings dropped out of school due to lack of school fees. She is in her 2nd semester out of 5, her family is unable to pay school fees due to a prolonged drought. Becky’s family solidly depends on agriculture. “My dream is to further my education and become a gynecologist so as to be an inspiration to the youth and especially the girls in my community”.- Becky.

    “Becky is so different of all our children as she portrays a great sense of maturity and takes her studies so seriously. Being a last born she loves us very much as parents and is always advising her siblings on the value of educating their children” -Becky’s Father

    Becky is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Lira School of Comprehensive Nursing completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2023.

  • Topista

    Topista is a 20 year old from Odomoi village, Kaberamaido District. Damali is the 1st born among 8 children. “I want to do nursing because there are a lot of employment opportunities in the health sector and in this way I will be able to contribute towards educating some of my siblings.” Topista found temporary employment in a sugar factory in 2019 to save and raise some money for her education.

    Topista pursuing a Nursing degree at the Dokolo School of Nursing and Midwifery completing a 2 ½ year certificate program She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Alice

    Alice is a 21 year old from Asana village, in Kaberamaido. She and her sister had a difficult childhood after the death of their parents and spent a couple of months alone at home with no adult to care for them. Her mother and father passed on in 2004 and 2008 respectively leaving her in the care of relatives. She is the second born of two children.

    Alice is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Edith Lucy

    Edith Lucy is a 20 year old from Opiope B village, Kaberamaido District. Lucy is the 3rd born among 8 children. “I admire nursing because I also want to treat patients.” – Edith Lucy “Edith Lucy is a very patient girl for she has managed to keep herself safe from negative peer influence up to now. My only prayer is that she gets the opportunity to go to medical school and attain a deserving education to make her dreams come true.” -Edith Lucy’s Grandmother

    Edith Lucy is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Suzan

    Suzan is a 21 year old frm Onyait East Village, Kaberamaido District. Suzan is 1 of 11 children. She lives with her parents who are farmers, her mother bakes local bread to assist with school fees. “When I become a nurse I will be able to help people even while at home and overtime set up a clinic offering high quality services to serve my community” – Suzan

    Suzan is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Joan

    Joan is 18 years of age, from Ararak ‘A’ village, Kaberamaido. Her father and mother passed on in 2003 and 2006 respectively leaving Joan in the care of her grandmother. Joan is the last born of four children. Joan sat for her senior four examinations in 2019 and hasn’t been able to return to school since. She helps her grandmother with the family restaurant. From it she saves up to approx. 2.5 USD a day.

    Joan is pursuing a Nursing degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.

  • Teddy

    Teddy is 21 years of age, from Okwero village in Kaberamaido . She lives with her parents, her father is the village chairperson of Okwero village, and mother Sarah – a farmer. She is the fourth born of 6 children.

    Teddy is pursuing a Midwifery degree at the Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery-Lira completing a 2 ½ year certificate program. She will graduate in June 2024.
